Valentine’s Day – Love it or hate it.

Valentine’s Day. For some, it’s a day to look forward to. Others dread the day when everything turns red in celebration of love and affection. Most see it as another day hijacked by consumerism. Singles may feel left out, and many feel pressured into having to organise something for their loved ones. And there are those, who get inspired and pluck up the courage to ask out the person they have feelings for.

Whether you like it or loathe it – you won’t be able to escape it.

Supermarkets and window displays will remind you well in advance with heart-shaped balloons, heart-shaped chocolate boxes, and heart-shaped greeting cards of that special day. Naturally, radio stations will pump out one love song after another. All the flower shops will be bursting with red roses. And restaurants all serve a romantic Valentine’s Dinner with – you’ll guess it – heart-shaped food on your plate.

Feeling the pressure yet?

We feel that celebrating friendship and love can only be a good thing. Alienating people, however, is certainly not. That’s why we support events that welcome everyone.

Daniel Blattler, Bar Manager of the neatly london lounge in Southeast London, revealed all the details about their events:

“We are super excited about the event. In fact, it’s a series of events – starting on Valentine’s Day, so Tuesday 14th February with the same theme to be repeated on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th February.

It will be all about quality drinks and quality food. Our guests will be able to indulge in the tastiest Swiss Artisan Cheeses from Jumi Cheese, whom I’m certain some may know from Borough Market, cured meats, with condiments including truffle honey and fig mustard. And, of course, a sweet dessert to round off the menu. Of course, there are cocktails on offer to go with the savoury or sweet themes or a nice red wine to suit.

Even though the first event of this series is happening on Valentine’s Day, we are celebrating friendships as much as love. The aim is to have a good time together, enjoy quality foods and drinks. You might just end up meeting some nice people who also live in the area. So, whether you are on your own or wish to come with a friend, your partner, or the love of your life, everyone is welcome.”

If this sounds like the sort of event you’d fancy, you can book tickets here. Spaces are limited, and tickets (£35 per head) are on sale now. The neatly london lounge is at 116 Anerley Road, London, SE19 2AN.
