The popularity of craft spirits as well as craft beers has been growing in recent years, with more and more consumers looking for unique, high-quality, and authentic beverages.

Consumers are looking for craft spirits (or craft drinks) with character, rather than mass-produced thirst quenchers with standardised flavours.

Both craft beer and craft spirits offer a diverse range of flavours, and an opportunity to explore and discover new tastes and aromas. Especially in the UK, the craft scene has been growing rapidly, showing no signs of slowing down.

One of the key characteristics of the craft beer or craft spirit sector is the small scale of production. This allows brewers and distillers to have more control over the process, from sourcing ingredients to brewing/distilling and ageing. It’s about the passion, care and attention to detail. Small-batch brewers and distillers take great pride in their craft.

Switzerland is known for its long-standing tradition of distilling, and one of the most notable distilleries is Studer. Based in the heart of Switzerland, in the UNESCO-protected region of Escholzmatt in Entlebuch. Studer has 140 years of experience and is producing its creations very much like the founders did back in 1883. The family-owned distillery uses traditional pot stills and only the best local ingredients, some of which they hand-pick from their own gardens. The result is a truly unique and high-quality product that is sure to please even the most discerning of palates.

In addition to the traditional methods and high-quality ingredients, Studer pays close attention to the ageing process. Even spirits that don’t require ageing go through a purification process, elevating the smoothness of spirits like Studer’s Gin and Vodka. Aged spirits enjoy years of maturing in casks specially chosen for each spirit. Choosing the right cask is paramount for the taste of the spirit. Having forged relationships with partners for the past 140 years, Studer has the pick of the best, whether these are Sherry or Oak casks; they play an important role in creating the smooth, rich and complex flavours Studer is famous for.
